What we check.

Six areas. Clear priorities. See what helps AI crawlers find and understand your page.

How checks are weighted

Your score runs from 0 to 100. Crawler access and readable HTML carry the most weight. Each check shows its impact, so you can tackle the biggest barriers first.

AI crawler access

  • AI search crawlers allowed

    high impact

Whether robots.txt lets in the crawlers that fetch pages for AI answers — ChatGPT search, Claude, Perplexity, Google, Bing and others. Each one blocked is an assistant that cannot use the page at all.

  • AI training crawlers allowed

    low impact

Whether training crawlers such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and Google-Extended can read the page. Blocking them is a legitimate choice, so it only ever lowers the score a little.

  • Indexable and quotable

    high impact

Whether a noindex or nosnippet directive (in the page or the X-Robots-Tag header) keeps the page out of search results and the AI answers built on them.

  • Readable without JavaScript

    high impact

How much text is in the HTML your server sends. Many AI crawlers do not run JavaScript, so a page built in the browser can look empty to them.

  • Page reachable

    high impact

If your server or a firewall answers our crawler with 401, 403, 429 or 503, AI crawlers that identify themselves are likely to get the same answer.

Content structure

  • One clear H1

    medium impact

A single main heading that says what the page is about.

  • Clear sections

    medium impact

H2 and H3 subheadings that break the page into parts an assistant can quote on their own.

  • Answers real questions

    medium impact

Headings phrased as the questions people type into AI assistants, with the answer directly underneath.

  • Substantial content

    medium impact

Enough specific, factual text in the main content to answer a question without the reader going elsewhere.

  • Lists and tables

    low impact

Steps, prices, features and comparisons in a form that is easy to extract.

Structured data

  • Structured data (JSON-LD)

    high impact

Whether the page describes itself in JSON-LD, the structured data format search engines recommend.

  • Structured data parses

    medium impact

Whether every JSON-LD block is valid JSON. A trailing comma is enough for crawlers to ignore a block.

  • Who you are (entity schema)

    high impact

Organization, LocalBusiness or Person schema, ideally with sameAs links to your official profiles so assistants can connect your brand across the web.

  • What this page is (page schema)

    medium impact

Schema for the page itself: Article, Product, Service, FAQPage, HowTo, Event and similar types.

Metadata & previews

  • Page title

    medium impact

    Present, and 20–65 characters.

  • Meta description

    medium impact

Present, and 50–170 characters. Search results often show it, and AI search tools pick their sources from those results.

  • Canonical URL

    low impact

A rel="canonical" link, so duplicate addresses are credited to one page.

  • Open Graph preview

    low impact

og:title, og:description and og:image, for a proper preview wherever the link is shared.

  • Language declared

    low impact

A lang attribute on the <html> element.

Trust & freshness

  • Author or publisher shown

    medium impact

A byline, an author meta tag or author/publisher in the schema — who stands behind the content.

  • Fresh, dated content

    medium impact

A published or updated date, and whether it is within the last year.

  • Cites its sources

    low impact

Links from the main content to the external sources behind your claims.

AI discovery

  • Served over HTTPS

    medium impact

Whether the page is served securely.

  • XML sitemap

    medium impact

A sitemap at /sitemap.xml or listed in robots.txt, so crawlers can find all your pages.

  • llms.txt file

    low impact

A Markdown guide to your site at /llms.txt. It is an emerging convention and support from the major assistants is not confirmed, so it carries little weight.

  • Fast response

    low impact

How quickly the HTML arrives at our crawler. Slow pages risk timing out for crawlers with tight limits.

The AI crawlers we look for

16 crawlers, checked against your robots.txt.

These are the user-agent tokens each company documents for its crawler. AI answers crawlers fetch pages to answer or cite them right now; training crawlers collect text that future models learn from.

What the extensive audit adds

AI visibility test

We write 5 questions a potential customer might ask before they know your brand, put each one to Claude with live web search on, and record whether your site is cited, mentioned or missing — and which sites are cited instead.

What Claude knows about you

We ask Claude what it knows about your brand from its training data alone, without searching. If the answer is thin or wrong, that tells you something about your presence on the wider web.

Site crawl

Up to 20 pages, taken from your sitemap first, each read and scored the same way as the free check. Our crawler obeys your robots.txt.

Site-wide issues

Problems ranked by how many pages share them — usually a template, so one fix covers many pages.

Fixes, ranked

Every issue ranked from critical to optional, with the pages it affects, why it matters, the steps, a ready-made snippet and where to click on your platform (WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Next.js, Ghost).

A prompt for every fix

Copy a prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot or Cursor and it walks you through the fix with your site's details. One more prompt takes you through every fix in order.

Page rewrites

New titles, descriptions, H1s and question-led sections for up to 4 of your weakest pages, drafted by Claude from their own text, with [bracketed] gaps for facts it could not find.

Action plan

A prioritised list of what to do, with effort and impact for each item, written for your site from the findings.

Files to publish

A starter llms.txt built from your pages, Organization schema with the official profile links we found on your site, and the whole fix pack as a Markdown download.
